H & C Whitehead Speciality Textile Finishers
H & C Whitehead was founded in 1925, by Harold and Carl Whitehead, the company for many years specialised in the finishing of woven suiting interlinings, mainly a process known as "London Shrinking", involving the steaming of woollen haircloths, whilst being draped over a series of poles.
In the 1970's the market for this type of finishing collapsed due to the advent of cheaper non woven interlinings. H&C Whitehead gradually went into the finishing of tie interlinings, shirtings, and by the 1980's, furnishings, and then automotive fabrics.
Although there has been a severe contraction in the UK textile industry over the last 20 years, the company has gone from strength to strength by concentrating on niche markets, expanding into new areas, and giving the customer what they want, namely quality, consistency, and service, at a competitive price.
When you deal with H & C Whitehead you can be confident that our 87 years of experience will benefit you, your company and your fabric.
